Anyone interested in a 19-20 yr old gelding? May be able to be used for light riding. I’ve had him laid off for a bit since he was battling some thrush. Farrier was just here yesterday (July 14th) and did his feet and said all look good now and his frogs are working on growing healthy!Since he’s been in my care we have gained great weight. He is AMAZING on his ground work. Super respectful and sweet. Stands tied. Lifts all hooves up without any issue. Loves being brushed, doesn’t mind fly spray. Will stand when being mounted. Stands to be saddled and takes the bit great. Doesn’t mind his ears touched either. Lunges both directions and when stopped he walked towards (on a lunge line)
He is over at the knees, at some point in his life his tongue was cut and has missing teeth on one side on the bottom- with that being said his mouth does not effect his eating or chewing. Vet even said so himself.
I just had vet out and had his teeth done. He has scarring on the front of his lower legs which looks like he was tied to “hobble” which caused some scarring (according to the vet) I am not sure if his legs are bothering him OR if he’s just enjoyed being laid off eating and being spoiled but he would need some time and tune up maybe? He does not like being alone in the pasture but does just fine when I take him out!
Otherwise he’d be a great therapy horse for kids who enjoy brushing, giving treats and maybe just learning the ground stuff?
