Are you a disciplined leader who understands that in the tactical world, "good enough" isn’t acceptable? SWATMOD is seeking a high-caliber General Manager to lead our Saint Cloud, MN facility. We specialize in transforming ideas into reality—from simple emergency vehicle outfitting to complete tactical equipment installations on MRAPs and other armored vehicles.
The Mission
As the General Manager, you are the operational lead for a team that supports those on the front lines. You will oversee the beginning-to-end cycle of highly specialized builds, including armored glass replacement, custom tactical add-ons such as breaching rams, and thermal imaging systems. Your goal is to ensure every modification—from a simple light bar install to a complex hydraulic breaching ram—is executed with the precision and quality government agencies expect.
Key Responsibilities
• Tactical Production Management: Lead a skilled team of designers, engineers and fabricators to deliver custom projects on time, ensuring every weld and wiring harness meets our "out of the box" quality standards.
• Agency & Fleet Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for Police and Sheriff’s Departments, translating their operational needs into technical build plans. Relay tech questions to the client to ensure client satisfaction.
• Quality Control & Compliance: Oversee rigorous safety inspections and ensure all builds meet safety standards and agency-specific requirements.
• Operational Excellence: Manage P&L, audit inventory purchases, and optimize the workflow of our shop and mobile installation teams. Prioritize urgent scheduled work over new projects.
• Strategic Growth: Identify strengths and weaknesses in our business model, pursue what makes sense and weigh in what should be discontinued.
What You Bring
• Law Enforcement Background Highly Preferred: We are looking for someone who has walked the walk. Whether you are a retired LEO, a former fleet manager, or a tactical specialist, your understanding of how these vehicles are used in high-risk situations is invaluable.
• Management Experience: 5+ years in a senior leadership role with an agency and/or a company similar to SWATMOD.
• Technical Savvy: You have the ability to "talk shop", with a basic knowledge of electrical systems, metal fabrication, and basic vehicle maintenance.
