I have my 2005 Taurus up for sale, it's been a good car but I'm needing something larger.
The good: It runs, drives, got all new brakes, new tires, AC compressor and system serviced, new exhaust, and new tie rods in the last 18 months. Larger exhaust for a bit better efficiency and a Flowmaster muffler so it has a bit of a decent sound without being too loud. The AC, heat, power windows, and power locks all work well. New serpentine belt, tune up, and new heater hoses 30,000 miles ago.
The bad: It has a minor power steering leak, and the transmission has a funky shift. This isn't uncommon on these cars, I've changed the fluid a few times but it hasn't changed over 30,000 miles of use. It may last another 10,000 miles, it might last another 10 miles, I give absolutely no warranty whatsoever on how much time it has left. I was planning on building a new transmission for it, but I don't have the time to invest right now.
The neutral: It still has the side skirts, but there is rust developing. It was off the road for 10ish years, so didn't have much, but the last two winters have started to wear on it. It appears to have been hit in the left rear door, the door was replaced and painted but not properly prepped so there is some paint flaking. The car also has a salvage title, presumably from this damage. It doesn't take a lot to put the dollar amount over the value on these older cars, and I haven't seen anything that looks like major work was done.
Overall it's been a good solid car, made a bunch of freeway trips, but it's time for something larger.
