This is a pretty cool piece of equipment. The engine is single speed. You need to pedal for the first few feet when starting from a stop. I usually start the engine by releasing the clutch after pedaling for about 10 cycles. Then the engine takes over and off you go! When you stop you pull in the clutch and the engine idles while you're stopped. If you try to engage the engine from a stop it will kill it. Need to pedal for the first few feet. But hey, you can go at top pedal speed without ever getting tired!
