Retaining its beautiful patina, this kettle features an acorn finial on the lid, a salamander foot on the handle, and a goose-beak spout — all stylistic features taken from the English countryside and common during the art nouveau period from whence it was fabricated by hand.
The item does show wear with a few slight dents and wear on the finish on the zinc-plated interior. Clearly, the item was in occasional use. This piece is an outstanding survivor from a time long past and remains a reminder of when craftsmen with remarkable skills could craft a functional piece of such elegance and charm. Made of solid copper and brass.
Now ideally suited for display where others can enjoy its charm and beauty—a perfect addition to the décor of a country-styled home, business, or collection.
$150 or B/O
Note: The item should never have its patina removed, a process which significantly devalues it as an antique (because then it is considered refurbished) and essentially erases its heritage and history.
